Pastor Henry Zorn was born in Queens, New York and grew up in suburban New York City on Long Island. Pastor Zorn graduated from Hofstra University with a BBA specializing in accounting. He also earned an MBA degree with a specialization in Banking, Finance, and Investment. Pastor Zorn worked in the business world for fifteen years before attending seminary. He graduated with an MDiv from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio in 1996. Pastor Zorn was called to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in January 1997.
Pastor Zorn has a passion for justice ministries and building bridges between diverse communities. He devotes time and energy in leading efforts to confront world hunger, dismantle racism, build ecumenical and interfaith relationships, and welcome refugees and immigrants.
In 2016 he began Anderson Churches for Racial Unity, an ecumenical organization that promotes education and awareness of racism. As part of this effort, LCR has established a sister-church relationship with Allen Temple AME Church in Bond Hill.
His guiding principles for a more peaceful and just world are that “relationships change everything” and “God gives us diversity as a gift.”
Pastor Zorn has been married to Cindy for 42 years and they have three adult daughters and four grandchildren who are the joy of his life. He enjoys reading (Eugene Peterson, Thomas Merton, Walter Brueggemann, and Abraham Joshua Heschel, among many others, are his favorite writers), sports, and gardening and is an avid runner. He notes that distance running is a stress reliever and a spiritual endeavor that enables him to commune with God and provides him with some of his most creative ideas. Pastor Zorn is a life-long Lutheran.
Pastor Nicole grew up in the Chicagoland area, choosing nearby Valparaiso University in Indiana for her undergraduate degree in Theology with minors in Psychology and Social Work. She then began her graduate studies and seminary training at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, later completing them and graduating with her MDiv from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.
While awaiting a call, Pastor Nicole served as the Children, Youth, and Family Minister at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Mt. Healthy neighborhood of Cincinnati. Lutheran Church of the Resurrection called Pastor Nicole to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in 2012 and she has served since with a grateful heart.
She is passionate about worship, contemplative practices and ministries, ministry with families and youth, and about LCR’s justice efforts—especially those among the LGBTQIA+ community.
On her days off, you can find Pastor Nicole enjoying a good book, bingeing episodes of the latest Sci-Fi/Fantasy series, practicing yoga, or solving puzzles and playing board games with her husband Jay, a Mechanical Engineer in GE’s Aviation Department and daughter Rachel, a student at Wilson Elementary School.
