According to the ELCA, more than 820 million people are hungry.

Hunger Appeal: "When Did I See You Hungry?"
November 1 - 30

Each November, we work to end hunger around the world, through food drives for our neighbors close to home, advocating for better policies, and by raising money to support the ECLA World Hunger relief program.

You can donate to our hunger relief effort online or at the church through the special envelope in your church mailbox.

12 Days of Christmas Food Drive
November 1 - December 10

Help our neighbors living in poverty in Southeastern Appalachia. You can make someone's holidays merry and bright! Pick up a box from LCR and go grocery shopping for some holiday staples. Bring the box back and we'll top it off with some fresh goodies before delivering it to our food pantry partner, Manna from Heaven, in Myra, Kentucky.

Bread for the World: Offering of Letters
November 11-12

LCR is working with Bread for the World (BFTW), a non-partisan, nonprofit organization seeking to end hunger through advocacy. BFTW has seen great success when congregations take the time to reach out!

We can help end hunger by encouraging our legislators to pass the Farm Bill, which has recently stalled in Congress.

Renewed every five years, the Farm Bill is a key source of governmental aid for the poor in the US, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and international food aid programs.

Among the measures that should be included are strengthening nutrition security in domestic and international programs, creating a more equitable SNAP program, and increasing food systems sustainability.

If you support these aims, we encourage you to send a letter to Senator Vance, Senator Brown and your congressional representative voicing your support.

Write a letter during the Offering of Letters at church November 11-12 or complete a letter online.
