Help us boldly pursue God's promise of a just world where all are fed.
Your donations fund ELCA World Hunger, a nonprofit organization dedicated to relieving hunger here in the United States and across the globe.
You can also learn and serve with us at events September 14 - October 6.
Each Sunday during our campaign, adults and high school-aged youth are invited to join us for a series of special speakers on hunger, followed by time for questions and conversation.
Join Rev. Rift for a deep dive into ELCA World Hunger's work. Rev. Rift will discuss ways to increase our impact and LCR's importance to the work that brings hope and possibility to so many. We will explore ways the church takes action in places where others often cannot or do not.
This week, we’ll be learning from Lauren Smith, Director of Education and Networks for the Building Resilient Communities team of ELCA World Hunger and Lutheran Disaster Response.
LCR member and longtime SEM Food Pantry board member Jolie Prasser will highlight SEM’s positive impact on our hungry neighbors. Jolie will also share about the Racetrack Chaplaincy work to meet the needs of racetrack workers in our region. LCR supports both ministries through financial gifts and tangible giving.
Pastor Nicole will preach on the topic of hunger this Sunday and the call to be God's hands in our hungry world. Our Adult Sunday School session will continue this important conversation.
We partner with ELCA World Hunger, a nonprofit uniquely positioned to reach communities in need. ELCA works with churches and organizations to not only feed hungry people, but address the root causes of hunger.
From ELCA World Hunger:
By providing immediate relief to those who are hungry, we meet basic needs and recognize the universal human right to food. But ending hunger is about more than food.
By connecting people with the resources they need to produce food and gain access to clean water, education, health care and sources of income, long-term, sustainable change can be accomplished."
LCR also partners with local and regional food pantries: IPM, SEM and Manna from Heaven (Myra, Kentucky). Globally, we support the nonprofit DIG in Guatemala.
Giving online is quick, secure and easy. 100% of your donation goes to ELCA World Hunger to help address the root causes of hunger.
We are deeply grateful for your generous support.
