The U.S. State Department has just announced a new program for refugee resettlement, Welcome Corps. This program allows groups of five or more persons to join as a team to welcome and settle a refugee family that has been vetted and approved for resettlement.
Pastor Zorn will moderate a Welcome Corps. orientation meeting on Monday, March 20, at 7 p.m.
If you would like to learn more about this program and consider whether you might like to be part of a team to welcome a refugee family into our community, you are invited you to attend. Please invite friends who may have a common interest in this.
The vision is not that this team be exclusively made up of LCR members, but simply composed of people who might have a heart for this form of “welcoming the homeless poor into our home.” In fact, an ecumenical, interfaith, unchurched effort might even be more consistent with the intent of this program.
