Community Life

Caring Ministry


We think of this ministry as community caretaking. From writing encouraging notes to delivering meals and providing transportation this team works to support our faith community. Appreciation Team - Members of this team write notes of appreciation to folks who have volunteersed their time and talents to make our community a better place. Childcare Team - Members of this team provide childcare for those experiencing an emergency and need assistance with their children. Connecting Team - Members of this team will send well wishes by mail through a ministry of cards. This service is for anyone who needs to hear a loving and friendly message. Funeral Team - Members of this team will assist families at this critial time by providing food, comfort and planning assistance. Health Ministry Team - Members of this team provide healt and wellness support and community resource information. Meals Team - Members of this team provide meals for those needing assistance in an emergency situation or recovery period. Prayer Team - Pray for all those who need prayers when and email is received. Trasportation Team - Members of this team provide transportation in embergency situtaoins and for those that are not able to drive or when community resources are not available. Visiting Team - Members of this team provide friendly visits to those who are homebound. These visitors bring news of the congregation and provide comfort for those who are not able to get out often.




Child Care


Volunteer with our Orange Ministry to provide child care in our nursery during worship, special events or small group meetings.




Hospitality


Volunteers on the Hospitality Team serve in roles during weekend worship and special events to provide the wide welcome of God to everyone. Check out the specific roles below. Greeter - Welcoming people as they enter the church and providing assistance into the building for folks with special needs. Welcomer - Works to help identify newcomers and provide assistance navigating the building and answering questions about our faith community. Usher - Helps to facilitate worship by welcoming people into the worship space, helping folks to find a seat, and assisting during worship when needed.




Fellowship


Volunteers serve in various roles throughout the year to help facilitate gatherings and community events.





Faith Formation/Orange Life

Ministry Team Member


Orange Ministry volunteers work to provide opportunities for the whole congregation to learn and serve through our educational ministires.




Small Group Admin


Responsible for workign with the pastors to set the Small Group schedule and to organize leaders and review curriculum.




Small Group Leader


Small group leaders help to facilitate discussion and educational opportunities throughout the year on a varity of topics.




Adult Sunday School Leaders


Leaders facilitate multi-week sessions on Sunday mornings covering a wide-variety of topics.




Children's Sunday School Leaders


Volunteers help facilitate pre-determined curriculum for age groups from preschool through middle school.




Youth Mentor


Adults come alongside high school students to provide encouragement, prayer and peridoic check-ins.




Grandy Greeters


For folks roughly "Grand Parent" age with a heart for children and/or youth. Support Orange Ministry events throughout the year. Partner with a Sunday School class or small group sending birthday cards and praying regurlarly for/with students, families, and leaders/teachers. Volunteers are encouraged to intentionally greet young children and youth in worship and make them feel welcome.




Vacation Bible School


Each year several dozen volunteers are needed for this annual summer experience for over 100 children. Do you love to plan outdoor games, act in silly skits or make a mean pitcher of lemonade? Then this is the place for you.

Volunteers provide assistance to the Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Accountant, they help to develop an anual budget and keep accurate accounting of the weekly offering. Volunteers are responsible for helping members grow spiritually by encouraging and educating them about giving the first portion of their time, talents and resources to the work of God taking place at LCR and in the wider community.




Memorial Fund


Volunteers oversee the LCR Memorial Fund and provides recommendations to the Finance & Budget Commitee, and to the church Council.




Administration Support


Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of office/adminsitration duties. Special project assistance is also needed.





Outreach

Manna from Heaven (Appalachian Mission)


Through mission trips and monthly donations to this mission in Myra, Kentucky, we help our Appalachian friends in times of stress and need. In addition to a food pantry and clothing closet our volunteers also help to teach and support sutainable gardening and other programs to help folks break the cycle of poverty.




Guatamala Missions


LCR supports our perminant missionaries in Guatamala the Doppenburg family and provides financial and tangible support for the Centre of Hope. Volunteers with this program have the opportunity to walk with our missionaries and local people and learn how God is working in their lives. Mission trip opportunities are provided each year.




Hunger Taskforce


Volunteers coordinate the collection of donations and facilitiate educational opportunities and provide tangible help for those in need.




Navajo Mission


LCR partners with the ELCA Navajo Mission Church and School in Rock Point, AZ.




Disaster Relief


Annually, volunteers from LCR join with other Lutherans across the country to rebuild and provide support in areas where distasters have struck. Previous trips have included New Orleans (Hurricane Katrina), Birmingham, AL, West Virginia, and the East Coast.




Fair Trade (ELCA Good Gifts Campaign)


Each month we sell fair trade items that help to support farmers and their families around the world. From the fair trade coffee we brew each weekend to our fair trade market in the fall we are proud to partner with artisans and farmers both locally and internationally.




Inter Parish Ministries (IPM)


LCR partners with IPM to provide volunteer support in addition to food drives and mobile food pantry events throughout the year.




Monday Meals


Each month LCR partners with community organizations to provide a meal for our neighbors.




Prayer Shawl Ministry


Volunteers knit prayer shawls that are distributed as a means of comfort to patients at local hospitals and to other needign comfort in difficult times.




Migrant Worker Ministry


Volunteers provide meals to migrant workers at Belterra Park Race Track in Anderson Township.




Stitch and Stuff


Volunteers create blankets and quilts that are distributed through our community partners in Guatamala and at the Navajo Mission Project, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Lutheran World Relief.
