The Contemplative Service is held every month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Held in a small circular space in the sanctuary the candlelit service is quiet and prayerful. Services include a guided meditation, silent contemplative prayers, scripture reading, music or chanting. Each service is unique and enriching. The service is offered both in-person on livestreamed via Facebook Live. Past services can be found under the MEDIA tab above.
Covid has caused us to cancel our yoga classes for now. We have every intention of beginning classes again. Dates and times of future classes will be announced once we decide to restart.
The classes are led by Sarah Pritts, M.D. Sarah brings years of experience and expertise to the exercise. Leading with a reflection on scripture, Sarah encourages participants to see the practice as a way of connecting with the spiritual.
The contemplative study group meets on the third Saturday of the month in the LCR library from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Join us for prayer, contemplation and book discussion.
Contemplating the new year
Lutherans explore meditation, mindfulness and contemplative practices
We are excited to share with you that members of LCR's Christian Mindfulness Community were featured in an article for the January, 2022 edition of Living Lutheran Magazine! One of the magazine's writers, Rev. Dr. Meghan Johnston Aelabouni, contacted us late last year about a piece she was working on around contemplation, meditation, and other mindfulness practices. LCR members and leaders of the Christian Mindfulness Community, Doris Jancha, Martha Newfield, Dr. Sarah Pritts and Pastor Nicole subsequently had a rich zoom conversation with her. They shared our ministry, resources, and experience. And, she wrote a beautiful article that has recently become available online. It is a great introduction to contemplative and mindfulness, and highlights the rich gifts that come through a wide variety of spiritual practices. Check it out and share with anyone who might be interested! This is a great opportunity to flex those evangelism muscles!
