LCR is known for our active outreach ministry – one of the many ways we are a very special congregation. The Outreach Committee has created some new tools for the congregation – a brochure to help explain all of LCR’s Outreach efforts, and a volunteer opportunities display with cards giving details of how to get involved in some of our ministries. Most importantly, we want everyone to know that YOU are part of LCR’s outreach! You don’t have to be part of the Outreach Committee to be a part of our outreach efforts – by contributing financially to the World Hunger Appeal, Lenten speakers, or special collections, or donating items to food drives, clothing drives, Giving Trees, buying fair trade products, or volunteering with Habitat, OATS, or other efforts, you make a difference in the world by being a part of LCR Outreach.

Eighteen years ago, the ONCE AROUND THRIFTSHOP was “born.” Its “parents” were area Lutheran churches. The imagery of birth is fitting, because those of us who have been involved since OATS’ inception consider it a living, breathing ministry.
Bev Mayer, the manager of OATS, asks that volunteers help three hours one day a week. The first Saturday of each month has been allocated as LCR volunteer day since the store opened.
OATS is a non-profit business. We work with various agencies who work with us to provide clothing assistance to those in need.
Donations may be dropped off during store hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store is located east of I-275 on SR 125 at 1141 Ohio Pike, just east of Merwin-Ten Mile Road in Amelia. For more information, call Bev Mayer at 752-2221.

LCR is supporting the ELCA's Malaria initiative. The goal is to prevent, treat and contain malaria by 2015. As part of our support, we are raising money to purchase bed nets. Bed nets greatly reduce the transmission of malaria by mosquitos.
This photo shows Pastor Zorn, Ronnie Wayziniak, Mrs. Nguti and Valentine Mungyeh in front of our hut with bed net display. Mrs. Nguti and Mr. Mungyeh's families have suffered from malaria in their native Cameroon.
The Navajo Mission Task Force recently received a collection of thank you notes from all the children at the mission who have received birthday presents from LCR this spring. Lenora, the Navajo school liaison wrote how about excited the children have been to receive a gift on their birthday. These are children that sometimes do not receive birthday gifts due to the financial hardship of their family. Take a minute after the church service and look at the picture boards located on the shelf under the hands banner in the narthex. Their accompanying notes are sweet and thoughtfully written.
Thanks again to all who gave a toy or book during Lent. Recognized by Bread for the World as participating in the offering of letters.
