Catechism
- Confirmation Confirmation at LCR is a three year program from sixth through eighth grade. Our catechism curriculum is titled Here We Stand. It is published by Augsburg Fortress, the ELCA publishing house. The first two years of catechism focus on the essential doctrine of Lutheranism as conveyed in Luther’s Small Catechism. The components of the first year class are the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostle’s Creed, and the Ten Commandments. The second year program focuses on the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, Lutheranism, Reformation history, and an overview of the Bible. The third year of learning is aimed at studying the Bible’s theme of salvation from a more mature perspective. It also includes discussions on topics which are relevant to discipleship and our daily life as Christians. Topics include prayer, ethics, spiritual gifts, worship and liturgy, stewardship and social ministry, and justice.
Catechism also includes experiential learning activities. For example, visiting the Comboni Mission Center, the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, TP White Funeral Home, Matthew 25 Ministries and First Lutheran Church in Over the Rhine.

- Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) Retreat Weekends CHRP is a parish based retreat program which first began at Holy Family parish in Parma, Ohio in 1969 as a weekend of renewal. CHRP was brought to LCR by our brothers and sisters in Christ at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Anderson Township. LCR has now had 13 retreats for men and 9 for women, and plans for the next retreats are in the works.
The weekend is about 30 hours long, generally running from 8:00 Saturday morning through 4:00 Sunday afternoon. During the retreat, participants stay at a retreat center that has lodging and meal accommodations. The retreats are run by team members of lay people from the parish who have previously attended a weekend retreat and feel called to continue the spiritual formation process.
